My Story
Parul Sharma is an sustainable Architect and Interior designer currently working as the founder and partner at Opame Architects, Hyderabad.
She has worked in the field of cultural context and philosophical foundations of vernacular eco-architecture through hands-on work and experiential learning in a real-world environment. Shehas work side-by-side with local villagers to develop and implement solutions for sustainable village development while learning about organic farming and landscaping, and other fields related to sustainable living practice.
Her early years in the field were inspired by great architects such as Laurie Baker, Didi contractor and Anil Laul. Which lead her in the field of Vernacular Eco-Architecture under pioneer architect Didi Contractor of Himachal Pradesh, to learn the art and practices of sustainable architecture and also gained hands-on work experience at Laurie baker center to explore his initiatives in cost-effective energy-efficient architecture and new techniques and forms in masonry using mud, brick and rubble, use of bamboo as an alternative construction material.
She is also working in the field of research and has much publication on her name to revive the traditional wisdom of architecture and sensitive issues like the role of the architect in empowering female labors in the construction industry.
